About Us

The Federal Tax Appeals Commission was established by Decree No. 983/2008, Article 86, and one of the main functions of the commission is to receive the appeals of the tax payer community and listen to the left and right, making the decision-making process accessible, fair, fast, efficient, transparent and accountable, and the tax payer community is expected to pay without any complaints. In order to contribute to the change journey that the country has started by paying, the government has established an independent body at the commission level so that when there is a case that is dissatisfied with the tax process, it can be resolved immediately.

Matters that need to be known to appeal in connection with tax

The appellant must submit the appeal to the Federal Tax Appeals Commission in a clear application, and within 30 days of receiving the decision notice, the disputed amount of 5% if it is a revenue case, 1% if it is a customs case, the receipt of the payment, the attached documents used as evidence for the case, the investigation decision of the appeal, Business license, business registration certificate, tax payer identification number, value added tax certificate, articles of association, articles of incorporation, if in English, should be translated into Amharic and submitted with the appeal.

The party submitting an appeal can appeal in two ways. First, if it is a revenue or customs case and the final decision has been made by the two parties and it is submitted within 30 days. . The appeal must be submitted by the owner, manager or legal agent/attorney, and the representation must be confirmed by contract and evidence or a representation stating that the office has argued for the requested tax must be submitted with a seal confirming that it was represented by the main manager.
